train Milan to Bergamo

Question regarding Milan Central to Bergamo--can we purchase tickets at Milan Central for afternoon train to Bergamo?

1. Our 1330 arrival at Malpena airport--2. train to Milan Central--3. train to Bergamo--Rick's suggested German Bahn train schedule does not show any trains other than late night Milan Central to Bergamo--Rail Europe shows many trains during the day and sell on line non refundable tickets--

The website for the Italian train system is:
www.trenitalia.com
The Malpensa to Centrale trains (and the regional trains to Bergamo) are operated by Trenord, a subsidiary of Trenitalia operating commuter trains in Lombardy. The website is:
www.trenord.it
The Malpensa to Milan portion is also available here:
www.malpensaexpress.it

Use Italian spelling of station names:
MALPENSA AEROPORTO
MILANO CENTRALE
BERGAMO

You will likely be using regional commuter trains, therefore buy the tickets at the station, don't buy online (I don't even know if you can buy online the Malpensa-Milano portion). Use the above websites only to check schedules. If your time of travel is after mid June the timetable may not be available. Just use a date this week to see. The timetable doesn't change much in summer.

You can buy the ticket all the way to Bergamo at the Malpensa Airport station.

"Rick's suggested German Bahn train schedule does not show any trains other than late night Milan Central to Bergamo"

I found one train per hour throughout most of the day from Milan Central to Bergamo on the Bahn site. Also one train per hour from Milan Porto Garibaldi.

What date were you using?

Use trenitalia for scheduling information as recommended. Regionale trains are like buses on wheel - slow and hit just about every stop so you just get on and go. AFTER -- you have validated (time stamped) your ticket in the yellow/blue,green boxes. Watch the locals do it. Buy all you tickets at the airport train station.

Well, I'm on the bahn site and it shows connections every 30 minutes. Some of these change at Garibaldi station and some change at Centrale.
This is a new development as DB did not previously show Trenord schedules.
If your travel plans are after June 12, the schedules are not published yet. They should not change much, if at all. Just look at the same day in the coming week. Trenitalia will show the price then.

We've done it the other way - Bergamo to Milano Centrale - and tickets are cheap. You won't have any trouble buying them at Centrale.
