In general, the trains from Lucerne to Milano Centrale go via Arth-Goldau through the Gotthard tunnel an onto Milan. Several different types of runs do this. One run departing at 8:18 has no train changes. All other runs during the day have anywhere from 1-3 transportation changes. Journey time for the 8:18 run is 3hrs32min. Other runs with one train change at Arth-Goldau have the same run time. Other runs with more changes can take 4.0hrs. You should be able to see these runs on the Swiss train website www.rail.ch.
