Biggie,
You can check train schedules for Italy here:http://www.trenitalia.com
You need to enter the names of train stations in Italian as follows:
- Venice = Venezia Santa Lucia.
- Florence = Firenze S. M. Novella
- Rome= Roma Termini
- La Spezia is the same
Enjoy your trip!
I use the Rail Planner App which is the offline timetable for Eurail/InterRail.
Was hoping to find an early morning train.... they seem to pop up when I search, but not when I try and reserve.
Is your travel within the current booking window? 60 or 90 days.
Looking for wednesday Oct 21st
We took an early morning train the other direction. From Venice to La Spezia (and on to Cinque Terre). But we went through Florence on the way.
I recommend waiting to book train travel. We booked everything either at the station or the night before on our phones/computers. Ticket prices stay consistent, and it allows you to have more flexibility on your trip! If you decide you are having a marvelous time somewhere and want to stay a couple hours longer...you can make that call close to time. I have traveled via train other places and always booked early. I was glad we didn't do that this time!
Biggie,
There are still Super Economy tickets available for 21 October, but you won't be able to book the entire route now as that trip involves one Regionale segment.
Are you planning to use the 08:17 departure which is about about the quickest one? If so, book the two Freccia segments now using either the Trenitalia website or www.capitainetrain.com. Buy the Regionale ticket when in Italy a few days before travel. DON'T forget to validate the ticket prior to boarding the train on the day of travel or you'll risk hefty fines which will be collected on the spot! One other point to note is that if you buy Super Economy tickets these are non-refundable and non-changeable after purchase, so choose carefully.
