I will be flying into Milan and need some assistance on where to purchase tickets after I clear customs in Milan. Thank you

You can buy tickets at the ticket window at the airport train station for the train to Milano Centrale. You can also do this at the Trenord Ticket Automat. Right next to it is a Trenitalia Ticket Automat, where you can buy tickets from Milano centrale to Roma Termini. I don't think (but could be wrong) that the ticket window, operated by Trenord, can sell you a ticket all the way to Rome. You need a card with a chip to work the automats.
At least that is how I did it last time through. I have a chip card with a PIN and I am not sure if you need a PIN with the automat. Failing that, you will have to buy Trenitalia (or Italo Treno) tickets at Milano Centrale when you arrive..
