Train from Verona to Munich

Has anyone recently taken the train from Verona to Munich?
I will be coming from Milan and wonder if I should spend the night before in Verona or just get an early morning train from Milan?
Also, since I would be going from one country to another, will I be able to buy the entire one way ticket in Italy?
Finally, any suggestions to make the ride even better?
Thanks Paul

Yes, you can buy the whole ticket in Italy, or in advance at www.trenitalia.com, but you may have to name your destination in either German (Muenchen) or Italian (Monaco di Baveria).

The German railway (DB) site also sells the leg departing Verona northbound on EuroCity trains which they operate. Advance-purchase discounts can be significant, or these departures are also covered by a German Rail Pass.

I've taken this train many times and it is an absolutely beautiful route. But it is a busy one - my key piece of advice would be to make sure you reserve a seat when you book your ticket (if this is not automatically included with your class of ticket). If possible, pick a window seat so you can enjoy the beautiful scenery. This takes so much of the hassle out of the trip and makes a long journey much more enjoyable.
