Train from Venice

I just booked a train from Venice to Spiez, Switzerland. It is leaving from the Mestre station. We are staying near the Rialto Bridge on the Grand Canal. What is the best way to get to the station for a 7:10 AM departure.

Hi Rob. Venezia San Lucia station is the station on the island. Your train actually starts there at 6:58 and then stops at Mestre; it would have been better to book from S.L. station. If you booked from Mestre, no problem, just go to S.L. and buy an extra ticket for 1 euro to cover your ride from the S.L station to Mestre.
Enjoy your trip!

Are you changing trains at Spiez? If yes, and you want some quick Swiss Francs, you run around to the backside of the small train station and there used to be an ATM. ATMs in Switzerland dispense Swiss Francs. Grab a few. This will be especially useful if you are going beyond Interlaken Ost into the Lauterbrunnen Valley. They like their Swiss Francs there. If you are going there, notice that the Italians wouldn't sell you a ticket there from Venice. The Swiss will take your Euros in many places but you won't like the conversion rate.
