Train from Varenna to Tirano

Good afternoon,
We will be leaving Varenna April 13th headed to Chur via Bernina Express. Looking at trains from Varenna to Tirano to get on the Bernina. Is it usual that there is only one train in the am and one in the PM and part is done by bus? Any other options someone could recommend or is the only option? Maybe I'm looking too early?

The danger of traveling on the weekend. It looks like there is a track project Friday April 11 thru Sunday April 13. There may be more trains put on, but it still appears that it will be by replacement bus between Colico and Tirano.
