Train from Varenna to Padua?

We are staying in Varenna for 3 nights and then going to Padua area (train stop is called Montegrotto Terme?). Can we take a train directly from Varenna to Padua? If so, can we buy the tickets in Varenna?

Thanks!

You will need to change trains at Milano Centrale to get to Padua. In Padua you will need to change to a local train to Terme Euganee-Abano-Montegrotto.
There is no ticket sales location at Varenna station, but a local travel agency can sell you tickets.

mag,

You could also buy your outgoing tickets prior to going to Varenna, and then just validating on the day of travel. DON'T forget to validate, as you'll face hefty fines which will be collected on the spot if you don't. If travelling on three Regionale trains, you'll likely receive three tickets and will need to validate each one. Don't validate them all at the same time, as they have a "shelf life" once validated.
