We're planning to take the IC train from Rome Termini to Civitavecchia where we will pick up our cruise ship. Has anyone done this recently (say the last year) and what was your overall impression?
Just last year for the fourth time. It is basically a commuter run -- 3 to 4 trains an hour taking 45 mins to 1hr, 15 mins and cost is from 8 to 12E depending on train. The IC is cheaper. The worse part is the walk from the front of Termini to the train platform. It is in the very, very, very far right hand corner of the station as you face the tracks.
It works fine and that is what we always do. You can walk from the station to the port entrance in about 15 mins. There will be a steady stream of people moving in that direction. You will not be alone.
Thanks Frank! Just the feedback I needed. Found a You Tube video showing the route as well but personal feed back is ALWAYS the BEST:)
Don't know about YouTube but Steve has frequently posted a refers to an old video that is only about half accurate. Where are you staying in Rome? Where does the cruise end?
