Train from Sorrento to the ferry going to Sicily?

We'd like to visit the Almafi Coast, using Sorrento as a home base, then we'd like to travel to Sicily. Does anyone know how long it would take by train to travel from Sorrento to Sicily? Thanks, Diane

Take the over night ferry. the train is over 8-10 hours and would be uncomfortable for sleeping. The ferry is easy...but you leave from Naples (easy from Sorrento)

On the ferry, you have good resturants and decent beds, plus your own bathroom insuite.

If you are trying to get to the eastern end of the island only, then do the train, but I think the western end of Sicily has tons of stuff to see!

We did an inside bunk, about $80 one way.
