Train from Siena to Naples

I'm trying to book a train ticket from Siena to Napoli but trenitalia.com does not service Siena. It looks as though I'll have to go through Florence or Pisa in order to get a ticket south to Rome then on to Naples. Any suggestions on making this a shorter trip? I'd love to take the coastline train. Thanks, Meghan

Trenitalia does have a train station in Siena. It's about 2km from the town. CLICK HERE to see the morning runs with fares. You can click on All Solutions to see all runs for the day.

You also have the nice option of a SENA bus from the town wall to Rome's Tiburtina train station. It's about 3.5hours (about the same as the train). From Tiburtina, you take the metro 4 stops to Rome Termini and jump on the ES-AV (high-speed) to Naples. You have very good options.

Thank you for the link. I reproduced your results for travel today, however it will not allow me to choose a ticket for the 17th of June.

Meghan, unfortunately, you are looking out too far ahead. Yes, it's just a month away but Trenitalia updates its schedules twice a year. Next update is about mid-June. Thus, you're not seeing the schedule. Plus, you most likely won't be able to buy a ticket on Trenitalia anyway. They don't like American credit cards although some Mastercards are beginning to get through.

Next, although you may think that you absolutely must buy your tickets before you go, you can very easily get your tickets when you arrive in Siena. Your first train out to either Florence or Chiusi is a Regionale. No seat reservations permitted. You jump on and find a seat just like your local bus system. If you buy when you get there, you won't have trouble getting your seat reservation on the Eurostar. 53 trains a day go from Florence to Rome with many going onto Naples. Don't fret. You'll be fine.
