train from Siena to Florence

We are planning on taking a train from Siena to Florence (as a first stop to going on to take a train from Florence to Venice). When looking on the trenitalia site there a couple options for train stations in Siena. Any help in which one we should take? We are traveling as a family of 6. Thank you!

I haven't been to Siena in years. What I recall is that the Siena train station isn't in the center of town. I took the bus to Siena as a day trip from Florence for that reason - I didn't have to get from the Siena station to the center of town.

But at the time, I don't think there were many direct trains (if any) between Siena and Florence - a change was required too. Looking now, I see there are plenty of direct regional trains. For example, I see a regional train at 8:48 that takes only 1:17 and is direct and costs the same as the other trains, so that's probably the one I would shoot for, unless you want to get to Florence really early or something (spending time there before heading on to Venice?)

You don't have to buy regional train tickets ahead of time - they cost the same in advance as purchased at the last minute, and these trains can't sell out. You would save money buying the Florence to Venice tickets ahead of time, though.
