I am traveling from Salerno to Palermo Sicily June 26th... does anyone have information regarding the fastest route to Sicily (Train, Ferry, etc.)... how long is this trip?

There is a direct ferry, but it only runs twice a week. Google Salerno Palermo ferries.
There is a direct night train and several day train routes, some with one leg on a ship. For complete timetables, go to www.bahn.de. After you get summary timetables, click on "Details for all" to see the connecting points.
