I was wondering if anyone has taken the night train from Rome to southern Italy. I have some questions about the couchettes
Yes and No. We took the train from Naples, and rode 1st class until we got caught in a train strike in the middle of the night. There is a good story that goes along with that. It is a long ride, but a direct way to get from Rome to Tropea. Another option is to fly from Rome to SUF/ Lamezia Terme, 55km from Tropea. Then taxi (70 EU) to your final destination. Use Whichbudget.com to search for airlines that ply that route. The overnight train looks like the best option.
