Train from Rome to Salerno - only afternoon availability?

Looking to get train tickets in early July, Rome to Salerno. On the Trenitalia website it only shows trains leaving 15:26 and later. I also read somewhere that summer schedule does not come out until June 11th, is this true?

Should there be more availability on the route in a couple of months? Anyone have experience taking this this route?

Our stay in in Castiglione di Ravello, so I believe Salerno is the better option than going through Naples - please correct me if I am wrong.

Thank you very much for your help.

Since your dates are after the June 11 schedule change, looks like they have not yet scheduled the morning trains. Keep checking back from time to time until they show. Look at a date before then to get an idea of what should be available since they usually don't change all that much.

Thanks Sam, so this date of June 11th sounds legit? I have not seen it mentioned much anywhere else, I wanted to make sure it is a real thing and that if I wait until then there really will be availability.

And thanks, I did look in early June and there are trains twice an hour. Makes me feel better.

There will be trains. Trenitalia will release them slowly over the next couple of months, so check back every week'or'so. You might also keep an eye on ItaloTreno as an alternative.

Are you changing the clock on the schedule page, or using the default time (the time you are searching from the US)?

  • Yes, Italo travels as far south as Salerno.
  • June 11 and December 11 are the days of the 2 Europe-wide timetable changes for trains.
  • trenitalia hasn't uploaded on the system the morning trains to Salerno, yet. Just follow Zoe's advice entering a date before June 11, that's the usual level of service.
