How much trouble is the trip from Rome to Carrara??
Just want to go spend the day and visit a friend there.
It's a bit of a journey. You have couple of choices. You can take the nice high-speed and make one train change at La Spezia for 47.90E (4hrs32min), take the same type of high-speed but make a train change at PIsa for 43.20E (3hrs45min) or take the InterCity (IC) train with no changes for 33.50E (3hrs46min). The reason the first choice takes so long is that you have to backtrack from La Spezia and there is a 50min wait for the next train. The IC train is not nearly as nice as the faster ES-AV trains but for this run, note the travel time. It's the same as the ES-AV because of no train change and waiting in the station. The fare is much better. The first choice above departs at 6:10am, the second at 15:52 and the third at 13:32.
