Train from Rome to Bologna + Car Rental in Bologna

I am traveling with my family from Rome to Bologna on Easter Sunday (afternoon). It looks like we can travel by train with no issues, but we were planning on renting a car when we arrived in Bologna. Anyone have experience renting cars in Bologna, especially late on a Sunday afternoon?

I love, love Bologna! but for more help with your question Bologna is a very walkable city, what are you doing or where are you going that you feel you need a car?

We plan to go see some of the auto factories in the area (Pagani, Lamborghini, Ferrari), and we are staying at a countryside AirBnb about 30 min outside of the city. For these reasons and the flexibility it gives us, we would like a car. We are a family of 5 (3 adults + 2 teenagers).

ummm...I don't have high hopes that any intown rental agencies will be open on a Sunday, much less Easter Sunday. Maybe the airport would be open? I would suggest trying to pick up your rental car a different day, but all those days that weekend have the possibility of "special" hours. Pasquetta on Monday may be difficult as well.

I've rented at Hertz near the BO Centrale station one year (located at the Millennium Hotel, where I stayed the night before after my arrival by plane).
All rental offices (all companies) aside from the Bologna Airport will be closed on Sunday.

Therefore you either rent on another day, or plan to take a taxi to the Bologna G. Marconi Int'l airport (BLQ) and rent there, since the airport rentals will be open till late night (I think till 11pm or Midnight), 7 days a week.

There is also a people mover (called Marconi Express) that goes the 4+ miles from the station to the airport. The people mover costs €12.80 per person, but people part of the same family (2 adults + up to 3 children 5 to 16 y.o.) pay a family ticket of €25.60, all inclusive. A taxi will cost you probably a few euro less, but they don't have a flat rate to BLQ, it's based on the meter, so it depends on traffic (which on Sunday should be light), luggage, number of people, day of the week, time of day/night.
