What train????? Don't know what your reference is to "this train." Are you suggesting a direct train to the airport from Rome? I was not aware that any such train exists. Please give a link. I looked quickly and could not find such a schedule. With the fastest train it is roughly 3 hrs plus from Rome to Milan and another hour to the airport plus some time to change trains and you could be looking at nearly 6 hours to get to the airport. Don't think that is workable.

Hi, look up the train schedules on www.Trenitalia.com

You will want a fast train from Roma Termini to Milano Centrale and connect to a train out to Malpensa airport. There’s a nice coffee/bakery in the train station near the tracks by the way.

You can buy your tickets ahead and save money on the fast train ticket. I typically buy them a month ahead for the savings.

If you buy a paper ticket at a train station, be sure to validate stamp the ticket before boarding the train. Hefty fines, otherwise. (Same for bus tickets. Be sure to validate stamp them as you board a bus.)

Jean, it is only Regionale train tickets that need to be validate in the stations. ALL other tickets are specific to a date, time, and train.

Subject line says:
To Milan Malpensa

Have to change at Milano Centrale to Malpensa Express
Runs something like every 30 minutes, takes about an hour.

OP-I hope you’re not trying to catch a flight out of MPX this same day?

train from rome termini station to milan malpensa airport

OPs title seems to describe what he is trying to do.

The big unknown is OP trying to get from Rome to Milan to catch a flight on the same day.
If that is the case, I predict a sad ending with much gnashing of teeth and pain to the finances.

I suspect the answer to the question posed ( 'has anyone done it and what do you do?') will go unanswered, as there is only a theoretical possibility anyone has done such a trip. At best it's a 4hr 20 minute 1 change journey.
Most flights that would have connections from Milan to N.America, would leave before one could get there.
