I need current informaion. We will fly into Rome on May 5 and need to catch a train to Naples. I can't seem to figure out what to look for. There is a train leaving from the airport to Naples?
Welcome!
Trenitalia
https://www.trenitalia.com/content/tcom/en.html
Station Names:
Fiumicino Aeroporto
Roma Termini
Napoli Centrale
There is only 1 direct (no changes) train FCO to Naples at 9:38
Otherwise you will take the Leonardo Express to Roma Termini then change to a fast train to Napoli Centrle- they run about every 30 min.
I would not buy tix in advance- flight delays happen and no telling how long to get thru Passport Control. Buy the whole journey at the kiosk at airport once you have arrived.
Not sure if 5/5 is on schedule yet- should be released by 12/11. You can look at same day of week now to see what options are- schedules don't change much.
No direct train - You need to take the Leonardo Express from the airport to Rome Termini and transfer to the train to Naples. Use the Trenitalia website and make sure you use the Italian spellings of the cities - Roma and Napoli.
There are two direct trains to Napoli Centrale. -- 9.38 am and 21.53 (9.53 pm). Taking about an hour and 55 minutes. After that you have lots of choice but all involve a change in Termini (One of the train stations in Rome). You want to go from Flumicino Aeroporto (FCO) to Napoli Centrale. You can purchase the required tickets at the train station in the airport. You might allow extra time in Termini in case you want to purchase some snacks/sandwiches for the train ride to Napoli.
Just to be clear --- a Direct train does not mean non-stop. Just means that you do not physically have to change trains. Also all trains in Italy except for Regionale trains and special trains like the Leonard Express have seat reservations.
Thanks Frank
I’ll admit- I never look that late on the schedule!
This link is about Florence, but it's essentially the same question:
Make sure you have appropriate plans for your flight home. If you are waking up in Positano (you didn't say ...), you can't safely fly home from Rome the same day. You simply cannot. Some people put their "Rome stay" after the Amalfi Coast, for that reason.
We took the bus that goes from FCO to Naples last year. It was extremely easy, comfortable and inexpensive. Several buses per day and they leave from the right of the terminal exit.
Thank you all!
Can someone tell me about the bus? We need to get from the airport in Rome to Praiano. I was planning to take the train to Naples and then hire a driver to Praiano. Any information on the bus instead would be wonderful.
Here is the airport bus website:

I have not used it, just noted it in case I ever need it.
I think you do mean "bus from FCO to Naples", not "bus FCO to Rome-Termini train". Do you think there is a bus to Priano? Certainly not from FCO. Here is a public bus from Sorrento, to relatively remote town in a relatively remote location. You would buy a pre-printed paper ticket for this bus from the newsstand beside the Sorrento Circumvesuviana station. I presume (but do not KNOW) that this bus originates nearby.

I have not taken the bus to Naples (previous post), but while it is cheaper than a private car, it takes at least 60% longer than the two-train route. It's a matter of the amount of highway miles and traffic to overcome. It's quite remarkable that the Frecciarossa train service gets from Rome-Termini to Naples in just over ONE hour.
You may get better advice if you explain whether your problem is cost, comfort, luggage, personal mobility, or time. No one in Southern Italy has "current information" (your OP) about NEXT SUMMER. You have to make an educated guess about current schedule postings. It's just like the USA; When tax revenues don't support a service, the service gets cut.
I thought it was clear OP was asking for the direct airport bus info from FCO to Naples, and they said they are going to book a car from Naples to Praiano.
The bus is about three hours, and the fast train is 2 hours only IF everything aligns perfectly schedule-wise. I see the appeal of getting on a bus right away and napping.
John, I suggest you plug in all the details with your specific arrival time to see what looks best.
