I'm wondering if the train that runs along the coast from Pisa to Rome is a scenic way to see some of the countryside - or is it too stop and go to be enjoyable?
Peggy, on this run, there are a few fast trains and some slower runs. The fastest is a ESfast train that departs Pisa at 7:32am. Only one stop in Livorna and then its on to Rome. Fare is 42Euro. 2hrs 27min.
Then, there are slightly longer journey runs. The EScity run departing at 9:00am takes 2hrs 50min. Same fast train but this run stops at 3 more places. Fare is 39.50Euro.
The IC train takes 3hrs 14min. 6 stops between Pisa and Rome. 29 Euro. Finally, there is the Regionale train. 4hrs, lots of stops but 17.85Euro.
It's your choice on how fast you wish the coutryside to pass by.
Peggy, We did that trip last year just so that we could see some more of Italy. We thought it was definitely worthwhile. I don't remember which train we took but it was pleasant, it stopped a few times for very short periods of time.
Thanks for your responses. Jane, it's good to hear that you thought the train trip on that route worthwhile.
