Train from Pisa Airport to Santa Margherita Ligure

I understand you have to take a bus/Pisa Mover from the Airport to the Pisa Central train station and go from there. How much time does it take from the airport to Santa Margherita. We would want to take the most direct route.
thanks

LB,

Once you arrive to Pisa Centrale, via the shuttle train connecting the airport to the train station, you will board your

train that will travel the rest of your journey.
There are direct Intercity trains traveling this route (Pisa Centrale >> S. Margherita Ligure), but only at certain times of the day, otherwise you will need to change trains at La Spezia.

  • You can buy your tickets at the airport.
  • Check Trenitalia.com for train schedules.
  • Travel time from Pisa Centrale to S. Margherita Ligure is around 2 hours.

Enjoy!

Please be aware that the train shuttle between Pisa airport and Pisa Centrale station is no longer in service. Currently there is a shuttle bus (Pisa Mover bus) providing that transfer while a new people mover (Pisa Mover) is under construction. The people mover is almost complete and currently in the testing phase and official inauguration is scheduled for February 2017, so if you go later in the year, your transfer from the airport to the Pisa Centrale station may be aboard the new people mover.

Once at the Pisa Centrale station, the train journey to Santa Margherita is about 2 hours. Train change may be required. Consult the timetable at www.trenitalia.com

Roberto,

Thanks for the update. I wonder why the Trenitalia website has not updated such information.

LB, Here is the link for the PisaMover Bus.

Roberto,

Thanks for posting the update. I was somehow under the impression that the new Pisa Mover (train) was now in operation. I expect it will be similar to the Orlyval automated train.

Ken.
As usual there are delays. It was supposed to open in Sept 2016. Now Feb 2017. There has been an investigation on possible irregular awarding of the contracts (some corruption allegations I suppose) and I don't know if that contributed to the delay.
