Train from Pisa

We have 4 extra days in early September, 2012 at the end of a motorcycle tour of Tuscany on Ducati motorcycles. We will have already been to Siena, Lucca, Monteriggioni, the heart of the Chianti to Bologna through the Apennines Reggello, Casentino, and back to Lucca passing south of Florence, round Vinci, past Pistoia and through the foothills of the Apennines. We would like to do a train trip from and back to Pisa over the 4 available days. What do you suggest?

We will be in Lucca at the start our 4 extra days and need to end up back in Pisa to catch our flight home.

Trains run about hourly between Pisa and Lucca. Trip takes around 30 minutes and costs 2.50 euro. Check Trenitalia website for schedules.

Are you looking to tour out of Lucca with the eventual return to Pisa for your flight home? Or, will you start in Lucca, tour for 4 days and then return to Lucca?

Start in Lucca, wind up in Pisa 4 days later.
