Train from Palermo Airport to Palermo Train Station

We're planning a trip to Palermo. I would like to take the train from the airport to the downtown Palermo train station. Is the train station located in the airport? Is it easy to figure out the ticket situation? Thanks.

Yes, underground, at level -1 of the airport terminal.

You can buy tickets at the station at the automatic kiosks or also on the Trenitalia App.

Yes, train departs from airport and easy to buy tickets. That’s how i got into city for Rick Steves Sicily tour 6 weeks ago.

There is also an airport bus service: Prestia e Commande is the company.
The bus station is right beside Palermo Centrale rail station in the city.
Both easy.

I'll add a tip -- one of the track numbers is a spot about 150 yards down from the end of the two tracks in the station and not a separate track. Let's say the two tracks have the numbers 1 and 2 on them, then track 3 is a little ways down track 1. When we were there last fall the board showed our train was departing from track 3 and everyone around was confused.

I was there last year and it was easy to find the train station. It's a small airport and hard to get turned around.

I was just about to ask this question. Thank you for asking. Is one way easier than the other: the train or the bus?

Sarah Murdoch mentioned favoring the shared taxi or the train, so there is no chance of your luggage going missing during bus stops.

We took the bus, and sat on the right hand side right above the doors for the area in which the luggage is stored under the bus.
We could see what came out of the storage under the bus each time the bus stopped, which was only two or three times on our trip.
If you are taking the bus back to that airport at the end of your trip, buy the ticket in advance for a particular trip to get your flight on time.
It gets busy and we saw people not able to get on as they had no ticket yet.
There’s a ticket office right at the bus station in Palermo .
