Train from Naples Airport to Sorrento

Taxi or private driver may be your options if you want to get to Sorrento that evening.

I would definitely go with a driver at that time too, as darkness makes things that are easy in the daytime a bit harder. If you are coming off a long travel day (even if not across the ocean) it will be nice and relaxing to go door to door.

We used Aldo Limos, a Sorrento- based company. Drivers were very professional with very good English. Christine, in the office, is a Brit, so email communication was easy.

the city is only a short cab ride form the airport, so unless you are going to go straight to bed and get up super early, that is a nicer option.

Only you know your limits and desires, but that means technically having two "travel days" and delaying enjoyment when you get to Sorrento. You could either continue your travelling and get to Sorrento and sleep in, or you could stop your travel, go to sleep, wake up at a particular time, manage to find your way to the shuttle and lug your luggage there and then start all over again traveling. If I am already on the move, I would rather keep pushing through rather than to do more later.

Jo, I'm curious, what shuttle? That would be very helpful info for lots of folks.
However, I'm agreeing with the posters who encourage you to use private transportation and just get to Sorrento. Then you wake leisurely up to the beautiful view.
