Train from monterosso to Milan for soccer game

We need to travel from cinqueterre to Milan by train with enough time to get to san siro stadium for a 3:00pm soccer match. There is a direct train from monterosso to Milano centrale leaving at 6:54 am arriving at 10:00 am. Is Milano centrale the best destination point? And how long will it take to get from Milano centrale to san siro on a Sunday in May? Please help

There is a subway station around 1.7km from the stadium (Lotto Fiera Milanocity). So it is fairly easy to travel between Milano Centrale (which also has a subway station) and the San Siro stadium: take line 2 (green) direction Abiategrasso/Assago and change at station Cadorna for line 1 (red) for a train going to Rho-Fiera, get out at station Lotto, then walk.

This could take around 50 min. Throw in extra 10 min if you need more time to locate yourself on the stations.

Subway line M5 is scheduled to be extended to San Siro stadium at the end of april, so you'll be able to go by subway all the way from Milano Centrale to the stadium.

From Milan Centrale railroad station take subway line 3 (the yellow one) to Zara, then line 5 (the purple one) to San Siro Stadium.

Milano Centrale is the end of the line and also (I believe) the only Milan station with service to/from Monterosso. Looks like the last train back on a Sunday in May departs at 8 p.m. (20:00).

The way Inter and AC Milan are playing this year, you might as well forget about it and stay in Monterosso. What game are you going to see? I hope it's Inter-Juventus on the 17th of May. At least one of the two teams knows how to play.

Thanks to all for replying! We will fly out of Milan on Monday so do not need a return trip. And yes, we will be seeing inter vs juventus. Any thought on purchasing tickets and where is best for a family to sit would also be appreciated

What are the games like? Family friendly? My son is 13 and plays soccer, and honestly, I didn't even think about going to a game. I checked and there is one in Florence on 4/4 at the stadium.

Soccer matches in Italy are fine for a 13 year old. You'll see a lot less alcohol consumption inside a European soccer stadium compared to their NFL or MLS counterparts here in the US.

Best to get tickets for the 4/4 match at this resale site:

Take your passport to the the match, they may ask for ID to make sure you're not a Sampdoria fan sitting in the wrong part of the stadium.

You just hijacked my thread 😆. I still need suggestions for 5/17 tickets at San siro. Which sections to choose and website to buy? Also I do have a slight fear of heights...

I was at an AC match it December. The south goal upper level was solid AC Milan support clubs. Controlled chaos is what I recall. The east side upper (and the rest of the stadium) was sparsely attended, but it was a Sunday night match vs Napoli. It's just a long walk up the ramp or stairs to get there.
There were buses from the Lotto Fiera Metro station. If the Metro extension opens on time, that will not be an issue, but they are there, just follow the crowd with the AC Milan scarves.
The nice thing about Calcio, is since the action is continuous and you don't want to miss anything, the beer stands are virtually empty while the play is ongoing.

Edit, sorry its Inter scarves you want to follow.

At San Siro, try to avoid the cheapest (4th tier ?) seats in the highest "nose bleed" sections. The toilet facilities are few and far between and there no concession stands.
Easiest way to purchase tickets is via this resale site:

If you have time the day after the match head back to Siro and take a tour of the soccer stadium and the official museums of both teams.
