When our group leaves Monterosso Al Mare to go to Florence, we would like to sight see in Pisa on the way. If we take the train, can we get off in Pisa, tour for a few hours then get back on a later train to Florence with the same ticket, or do we need to get different tickets. Also, is there a place in the Pisa train station where we could leave our luggage while we are in Pisa. Thanks in advance.
There are direct trains from Monterosso to Pisa’s central station where you can store luggage. You will need a ticket from Monterosso to Pisa and another ticket from Pisa to Florence’s SM Novella station.

Bye Rebecca
@MaryPat is right. Your train will probably go through Pisa but may not so if you want to ensure you go to Pisa then buy a ticket specifically for Pisa. And then another one for Pisa to Florence. Italian trains are not operated on a hop-on/hop-off basis.
If your group is organizing the tickets and the train goes through Pisa there is nothing stopping you from getting off and then continuing to Florence later on another ticket . But check that it does go through Pisa or you may enjoy Viareggio instead.
Trenitalia has an app that makes it easy to check schedules and buy tickets.
Have a great trip,

Thanks Tod. Sounds like a good plan. Do I need to make advance reservations or just go to the train station in Monterosso Al Mare and ask the attendant for the right tickets when I am there?
These are regional trains so no need to purchase in advance. Price never changes, can’t sell out.
