Hi - We are booked for Bernina Expres (2:20 pm) s end of May. I see that there is 9:20 train/bus from MIlan getting to Tirano at 12:16 and 10:20 arriving at 13:16. We will most likely take the 9:20, and wondering what we can do in Tirano for 2 hours. And if there is a luggage storage or whether that's necessary (don't mind taking our suitcases if we aren't going far). And if we run late and take the 10:20 arriving at 13:16 - I'm hoping that'll still give us enough time for the 2:20 pm Bernina experience - but are delays common on the Milan - Tirano route? Thank you.
Are you looking at the schedule for the panoramic trains or the more frequent regional trains on the Bernina Express route? The regional trains, on the exact same tracks , run more frequently, are less crowded, and the windows open for better pictures.
Enjoy this magnificent scenery. Safe travels!
We are booked on the Panoramic Bernina train. Just researching what to do for 2 hours we have in Tirano. Thank you.
In that situation I like to look on Google maps, satellite view and see what is around the station. We would probably go have lunch.
If you want to store your luggage, you can google your options. I would prefer the Swiss side if there are options, just to make it quicker to retrieve for your ongoing train.
Hi! We took the regional train from Tirano to Milan in October after riding the Bernina Express from St Moritz. We had some time to kill in Tirano and chose to grab a bite to eat and people watch. There are several restaurants right near the train station and some delicious gelato too. Having our luggage with us was no big deal. Just keep an eye on it! :)
Enjoy the Bernina! We loved it
