I checked the train schedules and it looks like there is only one train leaving Milan Centrale at 2 p.m., arriving in Monterosso at 5:02 p.m. Are there no earlier departures?
Where are you looking? I found departures at 6:05. 7:25, 9:05,12:05, 2:00. 4:00, 4:24, etc. etc. Please.... don't tell me you are using Rail Europe.
The train schedules only fill out 7 days in advance. So if your traveling on a thursday 3 months from now, the schedule will show will not have many of the trains. Only the high speed trains fill out in longer time periods. So, if you traveling on a thursday in 3 months...specify a thursday within 7 days to see the train schedule. There may be some variation, but not much.
Nancy, There are numerous departures every day on that route, so you shouldn't have any problems finding a train prior to 14:00. Could you provide further information on what day you'll be travelling?
Not sure what Ted is trying to say that train schedule fill out seven days in advance. You should be able to find complete schedule at least 60 days in advance. And schedules change very little over time. Will be some adjustments for day light savings and some route changes. The weekends in the summer are often used for track maintenance so don't be surprises with some weekend changes.
This train can be very full during summer holidays, FYI. If you are at a train station a day or two in advance to get tickets, it wouldn't be a bad idea to grab them, though I doubt they would sell out completely. We were on a 10:30 - 3 train ourselves.
