We are flying into Milan Malpensa Airport from Paris and would like to take a train from the airport to the main station in Venice. Is there a train station at the airport? If not what is the closest one? Once we arrive at the train station( Venice Centrale?) how do we know which boat slip to go to to get to your hotel... and how do we get there from the train station...

In addition to Sonja's offer, check with your hotel, either directly or on their website. They should have detailed info on how to get from the common arrival points (train station, P. le Roma, airport) to their front door. Many times with maps.

I think there is a direct bus from Malpensa to Milan Centrale, then you take your train to Venice.
If you are staying in Venice itself, the station you want is the last stop, Venezia Santa Lucia (there is a previous stop at Venezia Mestre but this is the mainland).
Once you get to Santa Lucia (also known as Ferrovia on the vaporetto system), walk straight out, down the stairs and there are loads of vaporetto stops with ticket agents.
