Near the station works for me. In your other thread the last answer gave an excellent suggestion for a hotel in such a position, with which I agree.

I don't completely understand your destination, but skyscanner will provide you the names and times of any possible flights.

I have the same questions as Nigel. It would help to have a bit more information on your travel plans.

Travel from Levanto to Milan is very easy, and I believe there are some direct trains. In Milan you can either stay near Miilano Centrale and use the Malpensa Express (about 52 minutes to MXP) or near Milano Cadorna and also use the M.E. (about 35 minutes). However some important points to clarify.....

  • Which Milan Airport will you be using?
  • If you're using MXP, does your flight depart from Terminal 1 or Terminal 2?

More info would be a big help.....

Hey Nigen and Tim, thanks for the prompt reply. Most helpful but I need to see which station the train delivers me to Milan and then book a flight and have that info. too. I may get back to you later :o)

I'm assuming you mean "Nigel and Ken".

The easiest solution is to travel from Levanto to Milano Centrale, so that's the station to use. Again, if you'd like more specific suggestions, you'll have to post more specific details of your trip.

Some basics that may help you.

As far as the airlines are concerned, Milan has 3 airports. Linate (LIN) is the closest to the city center by far. Malpensa (MXP) is about an hour to the northwest. And Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport (BGY) is an hour to the east.

To find out who flies from where, a great resource is the Wikipedia page of each airport.

To find flights leaving from these, you can use Skyscanner: http://www.skyscanner.com/

Your train from Levanto will arrive at Milano Centrale station. From Centrale, there are frequent buses to all three airports. To Linate, a taxi is about €25, so that's also an option. To Malpensa, there's also a train - but only to terminal 1. If your flight is out of terminal 2, it's faster to take the bus from Centrale than the train plus bus. A taxi to Malpensa is a fixed rate of €90, so the train or bus are usually preferred. To Bergamo, a taxi is exhorbitant and other methods are convoluted - take the airport bus.

Since your plan is to come into Milan from Levanto on day 1, and take a flight out the next morning on day 2, staying near Centrale makes the most sense. If you were staying longer in Milan, there are other sensible options (but staying near the station still works).

To find train schedules, use the Trenitalia website: http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en. If you can commit to non-refundable and non-exchangeable tickets, you can save by buying online in advance. If you want full flexibility, full priced tickets aren't that expensive, and they can be bought at the station any time before travel.

Addendum to my last post: full price domestic train tickets can be bought in any train station in Italy (so you don't have to wait until you're in Levanto to buy a ticket from Levanto to Milan).
