Train from Florence to Perugia

My daughter and I are going to Italy this summer for a wonderful adventure. We need to take a train from Florence to Perugia on July 15th. When I look at schedules, I see only one train leaving at 8pm. That's too late as we have concert tickets that night in Perugia. Please tell me I'm using the schedules incorrectly, and that there are other trains that day! If not, how can we get there? Could we take a bus?

Thank you!
Beth

PS: I have travelled in Italy before, but never encountered this problem. I just hope I've forgotten how to access the schedules.

You just forgot about the summer timetable change on June 8.

Odds are that the Florence-Perugia line is served mostly by Regionale trains, the slow locals that can't sell out with no discounts for advance purchases.

For now Use a day of travel before June 8 for planning, then buy the tickets in late May or early June.

Also, when you're looking up schedules, you need to set the time for the earliest you want to travel, and it will show you all the rest as well.

There's one about every two hours. I just looked for a week from now as an example in Trenitalia.it. Under "principali soluzioni," there's a bunch of them, and tickets cost just under €15. Enjoy; Perugia is a great place to hang out in.

You are going to Perugia at a good time the 46 annual Umbria Jazz Fest is happening. There will be plenty of trains as I went there from Bologna via Florence in 2016.

OK, I knew there had to be a reason. I like to plan ahead, but I suppose I will be patient. Thank you!

As I said you can plan now, the summer schedules are very similar to the winter ones.
