Train from Florence to Cinque Terre

Has anyone experienced difficulty booking a train for this route? Our request couldn’t be processed when using both Trainline and Trenitalia sites. We tried selecting different travel times and seat configurations. We reached out to customer support as was suggested but we haven’t heard back.

Make sure you’re selecting the correct station name. Search Firenze S.M. Novella - La Spezia Centrale (the Trenitalia app will fix the names for you). You’ll connect in Pisa and onward to La Spezia. There’s also a train that goes direct to Monterosso from Pisa if that’s where your destination is in CT. Choose Monterosso as your destination instead of La Spezia.

Based on a previous post, you're needing to get to the Hertz rental office in La Spezia to return a car before heading to one of the villages in the CT, correct? Or have you scrapped the rental idea altogether, or are returning it in Florence and getting to your final destination in the CT (Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola or Riomaggiore) entirely by rail?

What date will you be traveling?

Nobody can understand what the problem is if you don't write the day of travel and the departure station.

As a side note, the only direct train from Florence to Monterosso departs from Firenze Campo di Marte station at 7:25 AM. Since it's a Regionale train with no reserved seating you can't "book" it and it can't sell out.

This is mass transit. It is not necessary to buy tickets for this train in advance. Just go to the station, buy a ticket and go.
