Train from Florence Airport to Florence and then on to Como

Can you get a train from the airport in Florence to Como?

Our other option is to stay in Florence the 1st night and then catch a train to Como the next day.

I'm waiting for my travel book so I don't know yet what train to catch and I'm hoping we can get an express train.

No, you cannot take a train from Florence Peretola Airport - no train service. You will need to go into the city and take a train from Santa Maria Novella train station to Como.

So which airport - Milan Malpensa or Florence Aeroporto di Firenze-Peretola/Amerigo Vespucci - are you flying into, or have you not made that decision yet? Just as if you fly into Malpensa, there is no direct train from there to the city of Como. You will have to change trains at least once; easiest will be at Milano Centrale. You'll also need to get from the airport to central Florence train station (Firenze SM Novella) by taxi or public transit to catch a train. There's a tram (T2 line) from the airport that stop right across from SM Novella.

Is it the TOWN of Como you're wanting to go to or a different town on also located on LAKE Como?

Lita/Duffy, sorry for the additional question but per chance are you needing to get to the Lake Como area to start a RS "Best of Italy" tour? Thought I'd ask as you mentioned not receiving a travel book yet; might be the book that's included with that tour? If so, that tour starts in Varenna and not the town of Como.

You will want to be using the Trenitalia website for figuring tickets/route. That's Italy's national rail service. There's another rail service, Italo, that is also very good but doesn't cover all the bases; mostly the bigger cities.

To get into Florence the city, from the airport for Florence (FLR), you can get the very easy tram, or a taxi.
Both will take you to the Santa Maria Novella railway station in the centre of Florence.
Then you can get a train from there to wherever you need to go.

It would help to know if you are wanting to go to Lake Como, which is very big and has many towns and villages around it, and if so which town on the lake; or the actual town of Como itself.
If, as someone else thought, you are joining a RS Tour in Varenna, you would be better flying into Milan Malpensa.

Both your posts suggest that you are not quite sure where you intend to get to, so we just need a wee bit more detail in order to help you out.
