train from Fiumicino to Florence

Hello
I'm planing to travel to Italy next year. I have little concern about flying into Fiumicino and take train to Florence. How far is the airport to the train station? I am going to take my kids with me so I want to make sure it's not too far from the airport. Thank you in advance for your advise.

There is a station at Fiumicino airport. You will need to get two trains, one from Fiumicino airport into "Roma Termini", and a second train from there to "Firenze S. M. Novella" (=Florence). As you cannot predict when you will emerge from immigration, do not buy your tickets until you get to Fiumicino airport station.

Read this webpage (and the rest of that excellent website) for everything you need to know about Italian trains: https://www.seat61.com/Italy-trains.htm.

There also is a direct train from Rome Airport to Florence once or twice
a day...we took one last year that left late morning.

One at 11:08 and one at 15:08. If one of these is convenient, take them. Otherwise there are lots connecting through Termini or Tiburtina stations in Rome. Make that decision when you get to the ticket window at the airport train station.
