train from Chiusi to Rome

Wondering how convenient it is taking a train from Chiusi to Rome? Is is possible to get there and back in one day for a lengthy Roman day trip? How often do the trains run to and fro? Thanks!!!

Most of the trains that run from Florence to Rome and from Rome to Florence are high-speed non-stops (about 55 per day in each direction). In general, these high-speeds do not stop at Chiusi but whiz on through. What is available are the Regionale and IC trains that make about 4-8 stops depending on the type of train. The Regionale train makes every stop. The trip will take 1hr37 min on the IC train and 1hr54min on the Regionale. Between 6:30am and 4:00pm, there are about 10 trains from Chiusi to Rome. You can easily see all of the runs on www.trenitalia.com. Just don't put in a date beyond 12/10 as Trenitalia will be updating their schedules in mid-December.
