Hi, I’m planning on traveling from Castiglione del Lago to Tirano in mid-April using the train. Just want to make sure I’m not overlooking something better/faster … on Trenitalia site it looks like fastest routes (2-3 changes) to Tirano take about 7 1/2 hours. Does that sound right to those familiar with general route?

Yes, makes sense.
Up to a couple of hours from Castiglion del Lago to Florence
Then another couple of hours from Florence to Milan (fast Frecciarossa)
Then about 2 and 1/2 hours from Milano to Tirano.
That is already about 6.5 hours and I'm not even counting the train transfer layovers at Florence and Milan.
