Hi all. Do you not need a reservation or to pre-buy tickets on these trains. I’m having a hard time finding schedules, beginning of June, on the trenitalia website. Thinking because they are local we don’t need to pre-buy. Thank you
June 10 is schedule change date in Italy, and Regionali, which are partly subsidized by taxpayers, don't get scheduled until negotiations with the government are completed. So they probably will not show up on the schedule until just before then.
To get an idea of the schedule and prices, look at the same day on the first week in June. They usually don't change much.
Ok. Thank you for the tip
Unless you take the FrecciaBianca from Firenze Campo di Marte at 7:38am, all other trains are mostly Regionali. The only portion which may be on an Intercity/FB is after Pisa. Since it’s not such a long portion of the trip the potential savings are not that great. For your trip, I would buy on the spot when you go. If you decide on the FrecciaBianca at 7:38 mentioned above, then consider prepurchase to save a bit. There is no chance of a train being sold out on that route, so the only reason to prepurchase would be to,save money on a Freccia train. Be aware that prepurchased discounted tickets are non refundable non changeable once purchased.
Thank you. Makes it a lot more flexible since no reservations needed. Especially if we decide to stop in Pisa for a little bit.
