Wondering if there is a discounted train pass that would be beneficial. We fly into Milan and immediately head toward Verona. We will stay 3 days and then head toward varenna in Lake Como before continuing our trip into Switzerland. We will stay in varenna for 2 days. Any advice would be appreciated

I don't know about discounted, but there is a Lomardy Pass, but in your case it would not pay. I calculate you have 36.30 EUR of train tickets, not counting the Malpensa Express (13 EUR) , which is not included in any pass. The Lombardy Pass is 43 EUR, and you would still need to buy tickets from Peschiera del Garda and Verona, because it is outside of Lombardy.
To get the low price from Milano Centrale to Verona, you would need to travel on the Regionale train, not any of the Freccia or EC trains. They are unreserved and the price is always the same. Takes 1 hour and 50 minutes to cover the distance vs 1 hour and 13 minutes on a Freccia train. The Freccia walk up price is 25 EUR vs 12.75 EUR on the Regionale. The Regionale goes every hour at 25 past the hour.
