How much does it cost for a 2nd class train ticket from Vernazza in the Cinque Terre to Zermatt, Switzerland? I am not finding the Trenitalia site to be any help because I can't find the prices.

This journey is hard to pull up on www.trenitalia.com because fewer trains originate from Vernazza than Monterosso and you will need to transfer to a train on the Glacier Express line at Brig, Switzerland that may need to be paid in Swiss Francs. I did see a cost of 46.50E for 2nd class from Vernazza to Brig on www.trenitalia.com. On www.sbb.ch, the Swiss train website, I can see a fare of 34 Swiss Francs from Brig to Zermatt. At Brig, you need to take a short walk in the main train station to the secondary train area to pick up this second train.

It a beautiful ride from Brigg to Zermatt. We have done Zermatt once in the winter for husband to ski and once in the summer, we went up to the Kline Matterhorn both times. In the winter, my huband skiied down to Italy for lunch. His claim to fame until we went to Italy in Sept. was they he had only been there on skis. This year we did the Cinque Terra while visiting Italy. It is interesting that you are doing both in one trip. What is the rest of your trip like?
