Train connection times in Turin

I am looking for a train from Paris to Florence in December for two family members who have little experience in Europe.
The DB website shows a TGV9245 train to Torino Porta Susa with a 12 minute connection time to an FR9575 train which goes to Florence.
The 12 minute connection time concerns me. It would be OK in Germany but not sure about Italy. I think both are high speed trains. Is this
a realistic connection time? If they miss this connection it seems like later ones involve 2 or more transfers which I'd like to avoid.

If this connection seems feasible, is there a map or diagram of the station we might reference?
Thanks!

Can't find a track map off hand, but google maps street view photos show 6 tracks with 2 central platforms with tracks on each side and side platforms with 1 track each. There are escalators up to crossover mezzanine. I'd think it would only be a couple of minutes to get to the new track, once you have identified which it is. If you get lucky, it might be just a cross-platform change.

If you were to miss that connection, the next direct train is at 18:22, almost 2 hours later, getting to Florence at 20:59, not a whole lot later than the earlier trains with 1 or 2 connections. so I'd stop for an early dinner and take that one. Since the arriving train is a French TGV, and the connection is a Trenitalia Freccia, I don't know if you can just get a new reservation for the later train, or have to buy a new ticket, even if it was caused by a late arriving TGV. If you are buying through Trainline, you might ask them.

The first train leaves from France, is managed by the French state railways and runs mostly in France; so it doesn't matter if you are in Italy or Germany. Barring the air on Italian side of the mountains being thicker, of course.

Italian trains usually leave at the minute; for obvious reasons Trenitalia doesn't wait for competitors' trains: if the French one is on time you have 12 minutes to transfer from the underground track #3 to the underground track #2.

These are the intended tracks, just like airport gates tracks can change.

If they miss this connection it seems like later ones involve 2 or more transfers which I'd like to avoid.

Tell DB there is a Trenitalia direct high speed train to Firenze at 18:22; they could also take the Freccia leaving from Porta Susa at 17:17 and make an easy level transfer at Milano Centrale. In Milan they'd get on the direct Frecciarossa #9553 that departs to Florence at 18:20.
The private competitor, Italotreno has 2 directs high speed trains from Torino PS to Florence at 16:35 and 19:35.

Since the first train is not run by either Trenitalia or Italo, in case of delays they won't be protected. On the bright side, they will be free to choose between Italo and Trenitalia.

If it is indeed from Track 3 to Track 2, that is a simple cross-platform change.

I take that train a few times a year from Paris to Turin. I would not put inexperienced travelers on it assuming they would make the 12-minute transfer. (Honestly I wouldn't put myself on it assuming I would make the transfer. The train is often on time, but often not.)

If I were going as far as Florence from Paris, I would fly. Even EasyJet to Pisa. Florence is just a bit too far from Paris by train to be fun or efficient (the last time I went to Florence from Paris, I took the train to Turin on Friday, stayed a couple of nights with my in-laws, and then got up and took a train to Florence on Sunday morning.). For one thing, by the time you arrive in Turin from Paris, you've already been traveling nearly six hours just on the train (not even metro to get to the train station or anything). Then it's no fun to think about changing and getting on ANOTHER train for another hour to Milan and what another hour and a half down to Florence from Milan? That is a looong day.

If they do do something like this, they should be aware that if they miss the connection, there are more trains to Florence from Turin Porta Nuova than from Turin Porta Susa.

p.s. I'm from Oklahoma too so I'm straight shooting you!!

Thanks for all the helpful information. I probably will opt for a flight from Paris for "my girls."

Many, many thanks!

I think they'll be much happier. Try and get them a flight from Orly, it's a much smaller airport and easier to deal with than CDG. Taxi fares are only 30 euros or 35 euros from Paris to there.
