Train Connection Options - Fiumicino to Orvieto

I arrive in Rome mid-morning and need to travel to Orvieto by train. I have two options:
1. Regionale train to Roma Tiburtina, then Intercity train to Orvieto with 25 minute connection time
2. Leonardo Express to Roma Termini, then Regionale Veloce train to Orvieto with 20 minute connection time.

Which option is less stressful? I have been to Termini a few times but never to Tiburtina. I am a 67 year young solo traveler with one carry-on and a small tote. Will I need to go over or under tracks to connect in Tiburtina?

Thanks for any helpful information

Tiburtina has escalators and elevators, but the tracks are more spread out.

Roma Termini has tracks all on one level, no stairs from track to track; a few tracks are shared (binario 17 and 18, I am making up the numbers), so it might be a bit of a walk to your train.

Whatever you decide, it's a good idea to validate both first and connecting train tickets one after the other at the same time. Validate the connecting train ticket right after you validate the first train ticket.

I learned that the hard way when my train from Termini to Ancona was an hour late. At Ancona my connecting train was still waiting on the tracks even tho it should have been long gone. I had to take the elevator up to the departing track, but the validating box was down a long hallway far from the elevator. I made a run for it, and by the time i got to the train on the upper track, there was a guy standing on the car stairs watching me, he grabbed my luggage, then grabbed me, and we were moving!

Now i validate both tickets at the same time before i board that first train!

Marie,

If you're already familiar with Termini, why not take this route?
As you may already know, the Leonardo Express runs every 30 minutes.
BTW, only Regionale tickets need to be validated, however, not if purchased online.

Thanks everyone for your input. I probably will go to Termini.
