Train Arezzo to Florence

Fellow train experts! We are looking to purchase train tickets in advance from Arezzo to Florence on July 2nd. We had planned on leaving Arezzo in the late morning, but in looking at the train options. We would need to leave super early (6am) or the later train is closer to 1pm. Will more time slots open up for trains? or do I need to look into other options (like a bus)?

Thank you for any and all wisdom!

Look at dates on June 9 or earlier for a better idea of your train options. The regional train schedule is largely not yet published for summer dates but also doesn't usually change much.

There are frequent regional trains throughout the day from Arezzo to Florence with travel times varying between 65 minutes (regionale veloce) and 90 minutes (regionale). No need to purchase tickets in advance - just get to the station with enough time to use the machines - and don’t forget to stamp your ticket. Perhaps you are just looking at the Frecce trains, which are much more limited in frequency.

Buy tickets at the station when you go. Most trains are Regionale commuters. No need to,prepurchase. After you buy the tickets don’t forget to validate the tickets (date stamp) at the machines before boarding (see video below)

Of the many direct trains from Arezzo to Florence each day, only a few are Freccia or Intercity trains. There are NO discounts for advance purchase of regional train tickets, and the discounts for the Freccia and Intercity trains are small due to the short distance. Your best option would be to take one of the about hourly regional veloce (RV) trains that get you to Florence in around an hour.
