Train access to the Dolomites

I've seen pictures. I HAVE TO GO AND SEE! This is my first across-the-pond trip though and I'm not doing any driving. Does a train get anywhere near? I'm traveling from Milan to Venice and would love to swing up that way before finishing in Venice.

There is regular train service between Verona (on the Venice-Milan train line) and Bolzano (may need to use Bolzano-Bozen to check train schedules). From Bolzano, you would need to switch to a bus to get to Castelrotto (about an hour).
