Towns away for the Amalfi Coast

I have been looking at areas away for the coast ( maybe more inland) when we visit Sorrento in Sept. We like to venture into less touristy towns. Appreciate your opinions

Margaret, You might have a look at Ravello. It's a BIG favourite with many travellers, and is reasonably close to Positano. I'm not sure you'll find too many towns on the Amalfi coast that are "less touristy". Happy travels!

How about Salerno? Although not totally tourist free it has a nice Cathedral and small streets to wander around. I agree Ravello is well worth a visit. Most places are touristy for a reason and if they are not it is also for a reason. I think all you can hope for on the Amalfi Coast is less busy. Not the Amalfi Coast but what about a visit via Naples to the island of Procida? It is the least visited (by non Italians) island in the Bay of Naples. Should be quieter in September after the Italian summer holidays but will be busy at weekends during fine weather. Not been for about 15 years so can't advise on current facilities. http://www.procida.it/index1.html
