Tours suggestion: Venice, Rome, Amalfi Coast

Hi There,
I would like to book a tour for each of these locations. Can you recommend which tour to take or which sites to see:

Venice: would like to visit the different island
Rome: Would like to see the underground, Colosseum, Vatican
Amalfi Coast: Not sure what is best to do

Any advise is greatly appreciated

Grab an RS book and read - that is the only way you will know what you want to see !

Venice - if you wish to visit Burano or Murano, you just need to take the vaporetto - you don't need a tour.
Rome - Walks of Italy has great tours for the Roman Forum, Colosseum, or Vatican visits
Amalfi Coast - take the ferry to Capri from Sorrento, hike the Path of the Gods, ride the bus around the coast to visit Amalfi and Ravello

For the colosseum, use the official site. Tours for the main part are 5 euro + 12 E ticket.

Adding the underground 9 E + booking fee for reservation.

If you will be in Rome from April-October there is a Friday evening tour of the Vatican.

These are some reasonable
Tours. If you want a one stop shop.

In Venice, if you wanted to go see Murano/Burano/Torcello, just hop on the vaporetto and go explore.

I'll second the coop culture tours at the Colosseum...you could also book with Walks of Italy - they do a Colosseum tour. We used Walks of Italy for a Vatican tour. Lots of people like one called 'Pristine Sistine' - which is earlier in the morning. We did an evening one 'after hours'.

How long are you on the Amalfi Coast? How many in your party? When we were there for 3 nights, we (me, my hubby and my mom) used Sorrento Silver Star http://www.sorrentosilverstar.com/ Private driver for about 8-9 hrs. They have pre-arranged tours or you can plan something out. Nice new, air conditioned Mercedes vehicle. Charming driver. Picked us up promptly in Atrani and took us to Ravello, around 'the back way' past Naples, to Sorrento and Positano. Not cheap, exactly, depending on how many people there are...but my mom said it was the best day of her trip with us, so worth it.

Agree with Carla about getting the RS book and using it as a jumping off point.

In Venice you can easily visit Burano and Murano on your own just using the guide book. Easy to get there on vaporetto. His book has several walks in Venice itself that can be done without a guide.

His guide book for Rome also has a number of walks that can be done on your own. Unless I'm mistaken, he has audio guides for those walks that can be downloaded for little or nothing money wise.

That's not to say guided tours of some of the "biggies" should be ruled out -- just options to consider.
