I am just wondering if it is possible to find a tour that visits both siena and pisa in a day from florence? I know that is tight, but my mom would really like to see both.
I don't know of any, but why confine yourself to a tour? Italy has an excellent rail system, and it's possible to do the Field of Miracles and the cathedral, then hop back on the train and spend the afternoon in Siena, and the evening if you possibly can. It's about a two-hour bus ride back to Florence. Check into the details at the tourist info in Florence.
I was thinking of doing that, but i thought the distance between them and also the time wasted on the train, it would be better to be on a tour. Would it be better to take the train or bus between the two? Also would you suggest siena in the morning and pisa in the afternoon, or vice versa. We already have a room in florence so we wouldnt be able to stay the night. Any suggestions from someone who has done this trip?
visit each on seperate days. train to pisa, then take the bus from train station drop you in front of the plaza of miracle. you can bus directly to siena. siena is pretty big so you can't do it with Pisa on the same day, in fact many people spend overnight just to enjoy the town after dark.
