I’m interested in day tours or excursions using Bari as a base. Anyone have first hand knowledge? Viator has limited tours and are expensive. I don’t mind exploring on my own, but it’s nicer to travel with others. I’m interested in the Trulli houses, Matera and Lecce. Thanks.

We were in Matera earlier this month, and just loved it. It's an easy 1 1/2 hour train ride from Bari. One of the things we did was an Ape Calissino tour. It was only an hour and a half, but gave us a great overview of the old city. We then wandered up and down the twisted lanes for hours. We stayed in one of the cave apartments for 3 nites, but you could see a lot of this unique city as a day trip.
Another close town would be Polignano al Mare.
30 minute train ride from Bari. Beautiful, relaxing, seaside village.
We did visit Alberobello, but in transit back to my daughters house, would have been a nice Disneish stop for a night.
