Tours in Rome: Through Eternity vs. Walks of Italy vs. Private guides

This is our first trip to Italy and we are trying to make the most of our time in Rome. We have a private tour of Ancient Rome scheduled with Sonia Tavoletta, referred by Francesca Caruso. Now we are trying to decide how best to see the Vatican Museums. Through Eternity and Walks of Italy are mentioned often on this board - just wondering what makes one better than another? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You can book a two hour tour of the vatican museums through the vatican. Unless you want really indepth information then the vatican tours are fine. They give good basic information without being boring or lasting too long. They have a few different tours, one of which includes the basilica. Check out their website for more information. http://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do?weblang=en&do Donna

Allyson, we used Through Eternity for our Forum & Palatine Hill tours & were very pleased with them. I can't comment on Walks of Italy but Through Eternity was great and I would not hesitate to take another tour with them in the future. We used Presto Tours for the Vatican Museums tour; we took a 3-hour tour with them and we were equally as pleased with Presto Tours as we were with Through Eternity. The tour guide with Presto answered all of my questions (even what seemed like somewhat obscure questions that I didn't expect him to have the answers to) and was extremely informative.

I just booked 3 tours with 'Walksofitaly' for our trip this June. It will be our first time with them, so I don't have any after tours feedbacks just yet. I got their names through the Forum here. If you are still undecided, doesn't hurt to email them. Linda is very good and prompt in replying to your questions. Hope this helps.

We just returned from Italy and we used Presto Tours in Rome and Venice for private 3 hour tours. They were wonderful, and I agree with the previous poster, the guides knew the answers to all our obscure questions. I recommend them highly, and their online system made it easy to book.
