Hey its been 35+ yrs since drifting around Rome with more time than sense and no lines.
Those of you that have done tours of Vatican, St. Peters, Colosseum & surrounds (and Borghese?).... How recommended and which have you had good experience with? My wife and our 12 yr old son thank you!
We were very pleased with Angel Tours. There are some recommendations in Steves' Rome guide book.
drj,
If you'd like more of a personalized private tour, I would highly recommend Francesca Caruso. She's an outstanding guide and a wealth of information!
Francesca, recommended by Ken, does a fabulous job. She is often booked far in advance as Rick Steves tours use her extensively, so you might try Sonia Tavoletta ([email protected]). A private guide is ideal for the Ancient Rome area (Colosseo, Foro Romano and Palatino), and can personalize the tour for you. I think it is really great for kids since it is focused.
You seem to have a question about the Borghese. Do you mean Galleria Borghese? You can self-tour, use the audio guide they have there (which is excellent), or get a private tour.
A private guide can also take you through the Vatican, although I always recommend Wlaks fo Italy and their "Pristine Sistine" tour. We have taken it several times and their small groups make navigating the Museums fairly easy.
