Am interested in a day trip from Rome to Capri, Sorrento, Positano, or the Amalfi Coast. Are there any specific companies that anyone knows of that they could recommend? Approximately what were the rates?

Carrani, Green Line, Vastour and Appian Line all offer a daytrip to the Capri. All the others require an overnight stay because they are too far from Rome. If you are interested in these cities stay in Sorrento for a couple nights - it makes a great base of the Naples Bay area.

We travelled with friends to a wedding in Rome in May of 2007, our friends did a tour to Pompeii from Rome with a tour company, we did it ourselves (using Rick's Rome 2007 book) and I think we ended up with more time and freedom to do what we wanted. We took the high speed train in the morning, and then bought our return ticket on the slower train at the Napels station that evening. I belive my friends booked their tour through viatour.com

Check out www.italylimousines.com....or call and talk to Josephina. We did the Amalfi and Sorrento coasts, had time in Sorrento to walk around, drove thru Positano, had lunch on the beach in Amalfi, and still had time to get to Pompeii in the afternoon when it was much less crowded. We were just there this past month. You'll love the Amalfi coast...btw...we arrived in Naples and did the tour from there.
